Nervous System

Remember:
- The system that controls all the other systems of the body is the nervous System.
- It is made up of the brain,spinal cord and the nerves.
- You cannot see,hear,smell,taste,feel,walk,run,think or do anything else without the nervous system.
The Brain
- It stores a lot of information and can recall the information whenever needed.
- It is protected by the skull.
- The brain has three main regions Cerebrum,Cerebellum and the Medulla.
The Spinal Cord
- It is a thick bundle of nerves connected to the brain stem.
- Nerves emerge from the spinal cord and form form a network all around the body.
- The nerves carry messages around the body.
- There are three types of nerves Sensory nerves,Motor nerves and Mixed nerves.
- Sensory nerves send messages about what the sense organs have seen,heard tasted smelt or felt.
- Motor nerves Carry orders to the parts of the body from the nerves .
- Mixed nerves nerves carry messages between the sensory and motor nerve cells they are present in the brain and spinal cord.
Interesting points
- Insects have more than hundred eyes that is why it is so hard to kill a fly.
- In blind people sensitivity to touch is so well that they can read with their fingers. They use a language called braille.
- It was earlier believed that different taste buds are found in different parts of the tongue.
